Rembrandt Butchery, old-school values in Linden

For me, Linden is the epitome of small town South Africa.
Except for the fact that it is actually a suburb
within the boundaries of a huge metropolis.
And in every town, there is at least one butchery where all the locals gather.
Here in Linden, we tend to gravitate to Rembrandt.

The staff...
And a friendlier bunch I defy you to find at any other butchery.

There are freezers packed with pre-cut meat,
just waiting to be taken home and turned into a delicious meal.

But that is not all...
They keep a supply of dried peaches that are delicious.
Certainly they are a requirement on my numerous road trips.
The latest addition to the snack range on offer are the packets of raisins.
I will be "testing" them on an upcoming week long road journey

Back by popular demand...
HUGE, tasty peanuts.

And packets of home-made rusks...

My favourite healthy snack.
And Rembrandt does the best biltong.
That being said, biltong, like boerewors, can start an argument in a heartbeat.
Everyone who enjoys either, or both, will have their favourite supplier.
To the best of my knowledge, this is one of the few arguments that Google cannot settle

And if there is no biltong that is to your taste...
You can choose a piece and reserve it until it IS ready to eat.

To my mind, Rembrandt has the BEST boerewors in this part of Johannesburg.
And please do not mix this variety with Braai-wors!
Both are made completely differently and the price variation will show that

It comes in two sizes...
Thick and thin.
Luckily it is sold by the kg, and not by the metre.
If you are having people over for a braai
a staff  member will be able to calculate
how much you will need to satisfy all your guests.

And how about some lekker mince for burger patties?

Unlike supermarket butcheries or franchises,
this is a family run business and it shows.
Pictures line the walls showing the various offspring, siblings and grand children

A Rembrandt Butchery "Breakfast-of -Champions"...
If you have never tried their products or their hospitality,
pop in and pay them a visit.
They are open very early from Monday to Saturday.

Support local, support Linden.
